manchester united vs tottenham, late match review, Aug 23, 2011

It's another big game Monday night when Manchester United play home to Spurs. Manchester United won 3-0.

Manchester United and Tottenham playing at Old Trafford on Tuesday (08/23/2011) , the 'Red Devils' scoring their entire tally in the second half of game. Danny Welbeck opening victory with glorious header, receiving Cleverley’s cross on 61 minutes. On '76 minutes, after tick-tack passing with Welbeck, Anderson make MU lead 2-0. Finally, Wayne Rooney closing his team a victory party on 87 minutes with his header.

After this match between Manchester United against Tottenham, it leaves United trailing City by the narrowest of goal difference margins and whilst this might be a ridiculously early stage of the season, it is clear they have no intention of meekly bowing to the firepower the Blues have unleashed over the past couple of weeks.

Phil Jones and Jonny Evans are the replacements for injured duo Nemanja Vidic and Rio Ferdinand. Missing Luka Modric - who wasn't in the right frame of mind to play - Tottenham began with a hesitancy which United came close to exposing through Cleverley.

Line Up:
Manchester United: De Gea; Smalling, Jones, Evans, Evra; Nani, Anderson, Cleverley (Giggs '81), Young (Park '81); Welbeck (Hernandez '81), Rooney.

Tottenham: Friedel; Walker (Corluka '45), Dawson, Kaboul, Assou-Ekotto; Lennon, Kranjcar (Pavlyuchenko '74), Livermore (Huddlestone '74), Bale; Van der Vaart; Defoe.

Yellow Card:
Manchester United (Jonny Evans '37) - Tottenham Hotspurs (Michael Dawson '40, Jermaine Defoe '90)
